    By Sundar Narasimhan | AEM Cloud | Comments are Closed | 7 July, 2023 | 0

    Summary

This article provides an overview of the benefits of AEM cloud service. It discusses the advantages of AEM cloud service, and the process of migration, which includes the steps and the required tools.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, digital spaces have rapidly developed, and many businesses have shifted online. In an increasingly online world, digital content has grown in significance.

AEM as a cloud service facilitates managing and optimizing digital content, which has become a critical need for businesses and plays a key role in determining the user experience. The global market for enterprise content management is projected to reach USD 37.7 billion by 2026.

An effective Cloud Content Management System can enable you to manage your content smoothly, offer it on multiple channels, and enhance your customer experience.

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is widely used as a cloud service and is the preferred choice of several companies. As one of the leading cloud service solutions, Adobe Digital Asset Management can help you organize content and offer customized digital experiences across different devices, delivered in the best way.

What are the Benefits of AEM Cloud Service?

AEM as a cloud service offers several benefits, which are given below.

    • Low Cost

AEM cloud services are a relatively low-cost offering compared to similar solutions available in the market. Despite this, it offers several useful features and high performance.

    • Easy Scaling

One of the major benefits of Adobe Cloud Services for business is that you can easily scale up or down, depending on your requirements. Adobe will increase or decrease the instances according to your request. Further, it has reactive auto-scaling, which detects when additional capacity is required.

    • High Performance

AEM uses Apache Ignite technology, which is a high-performance technology. It is used for caching, which also ensures low latency. Its easy scaling ensures high performance for both content creators and customers.

    • Low Risk

AEM uses SSL encryption between application servers and customers. Apache Ignite ensures that data is protected and not compromised, which is particularly important for cloud services where security is usually an issue. With automatic security coverage, it minimizes security threats. Security updates take place automatically and overnight and abide by industry standards.

    • Disaster Recovery

AEM Cloud Business offers three types of disaster recovery models – geo-redundant replication, geo-replication, and geo-restore. Depending on your preference, data can be replicated between two data centers.

    • High Capacity

AEM cloud services are high-capacity and support large sites. They can manage more than 10,000 users and handle the traffic.

    • High Availability

Adobe Business and AEM allow you to minimize downtime with automatic overnight updates that take place in the background without interrupting business operations. One of the major benefits is that the cloud service is always on. With no pauses for updates, patches, upgrades, or other maintenance, you don’t experience downtime.

    • Updated and Evolving

AEM cloud service constantly evolves and updates to ensure the latest code base. Content and configurations are reviewed based on best practices.

    Migrating to AEM

You can follow a phased approach to transition to AEM as a Cloud Service. AEM Migration involves the phases given below.

    1. Readiness Phase: In this phase, you assess whether your deployment is ready to transition to Adobe Cloud Services. You can also take stock of the changes introduced by the AEM cloud service.
    2. Implementation Phase: During this phase, you explore Adobe’s various tools to help ease your transition to cloud services.
    3. Go-Live Phase: Once everything is prepared, you can go ahead with the migration in the Go-Live phase.
    4. Post-Go-Live Phase: This is the phase after the migration process is complete, where you can check for problems and finetune performance.
    5. Cloud Acceleration Manager: Along with the steps mentioned above, Adobe provides a Cloud Acceleration Manager. This application guides your IT team through the migration process from readiness to going live.

With suggested best practices, tips, and tools at different phases of the transition process, you can ensure a smooth and successful migration to AEM.

    Best Practices for AEM

Developers can use AEM components and templates to create functionality and flexible content and adapt to changing requirements while maintaining the brand layout. A common challenge is introducing new kinds of content to websites.

Here are some recommended best practices for templates and components in Adobe Experience Cloud Services.

    • When creating a new page type, reuse an existing template. The template outlines the page structure and can be further defined by the design.
    • Use paragraph systems.
    • Make sure you define access right to the design mode. This ensures that only the administrator or authorized persons can make changes to the paragraph systems.
    • Define the components of a particular paragraph system. This allows the editors to add the necessary components to the page.
    • To create the required information, you can add the permitted components to the pages.
    • Developers should use templates to ensure uniformity, maintain the brand layout, and keep it flexible with the configuration options of the paragraph system.
    • Try to minimize the number of templates and keep it the same as the number of page structures.
    • Make sure your custom components are flexible. When creating or customizing components, it is best to reuse existing definitions. You can do this by copying and overlaying the definition.

This process avoids developing a new template, which is costly and time-consuming.

Keep in mind that an instance a code is running in can be taken down, so it should be possible to resume the code. If the code gets re-executed, it should resume close to where it stopped.

    Summing Up

AEM as a cloud service offers several benefits. It is low-cost, flexible, scalable, high-performing, and low-risk, and has other advantages such as disaster recovery, high capacity, and high availability.

Following AEM, best practices will help you develop components and templates efficiently and effectively.
