About the Client
The client is a leading online real estate education provider in the United States, offering pre-licensing, exam preparation, and continuing education programs for real estate and appraisal professionals across multiple states. Operating in a highly regulated industry, the organization must align its courses with national appraisal standards, state-specific licensing requirements, and evolving professional guidelines to support learner certification and career advancement.
Challenges They Faced
With no legacy source material and stringent regulatory requirements, the project demanded end-to-end subject matter creation, curriculum structuring, and platform-aligned content development.
- Limited Source Content for New Courses: The appraisal courses were entirely new, with little to no existing source material. This required extensive research and subject matter development to create accurate, industry-aligned learning content from scratch.
- Strict Compliance with Industry Standards: Courses needed to comply with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) curriculum requirements, and varying state regulations, making curriculum design complex and highly regulated.
- Turnkey Responsibility for Subject Expertise: As a turnkey project, the responsibility for developing subject matter expertise rested with the delivery team, requiring deep research into appraisal practices, regulatory frameworks, and real-world applications.
- Seat-Time and Curriculum Constraints: Each course had to meet defined seat-time requirements while ensuring comprehensive coverage of learning objectives, creating a challenge in balancing depth with time limitations.
- Plagiarism-Free Content Requirement: The courses were intended for commercial publication, making originality critical and necessitating rigorous plagiarism checks and content validation.
- LMS Compatibility and Authoring Constraints: Content had to align with the client’s internal authoring and publishing tools, requiring adherence to specific scripting formats and templates to ensure seamless LMS integration.
