Hurix Digital Enhances Trade Lifecycle Understanding with Immersive Business Simulation for a Leading Trading Firm
Client Overview
Our client is a prominent trading firm that facilitates over $150 billion in trade transactions annually and operates in more than 50 countries. Our client needed an innovative solution to help their employees across various functions understand the entire trade lifecycle (TLC) and appreciate the impact of decisions taken at each stage.
They wanted an experiential learning program that allowed employees to play different roles throughout the trade lifecycle, thus fostering cross-functional collaboration and improving agility and synergy among teams.
The Challenge
The challenge was to create a business simulation that:
- Enabled learners to follow a trade through its lifecycle from inception to delivery.
- Allowed learners to experience real-life trade scenarios, making decisions and facing challenges along the way.
- Assessed learners’ performance on four key parameters: Profit/Loss, Personal Style of consulting and staying connected with colleagues, HSEC considerations, and Elapsed Time.
The content-gathering phase, originally planned as face-to-face sessions, had to be conducted virtually owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. This caused delays in the initial stages, making this challenge an uphill battle.
Our Solution
Hurix Digital’s elegant solution includes:

Instructional Design:
- We started with designing an engaging and branching scenario-based story. We later focused on visual presentations with limited onscreen text. A near-real-life trading scenario was created with decision points affecting multiple parameters. We incorporated real-life distractors like phone calls, WhatsApp messages, chat messages, email popups, and live news tickers.

Visual Design:
- A custom GUI with fresh colors and a unique layout was created to position various components and actions. To make the simulation lively and realistic, we made illustrations of scenes, maps, and characters with defined roles. We also added onscreen animations and office background audio to enhance the immersive experience.

Functional Design:
- We developed a robust simulation framework to capture and process dynamic data based on user actions and stages. SCORM compliance was enforced for seamless integration with all standard LMS.
The Result
Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, our efforts led to these results:
- Created a visually rich and engaging business simulation to provide a realistic trading experience.
- Implemented branching scenarios and decision points to capture data/score impact on the 4 key parameters based on decisions taken.
- Enhanced cross-functional collaboration and understanding of the trade lifecycle among employees.
- Successfully gathered content virtually and developed the simulation at a fast pace to cover the lost time.
