FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India – Hurix Digital, a world leader in digital learning and content transformation, has established a multilingual learning strategy for a leading research university, with a 15% boost in international student engagement and a 40% decrease in language-based support tickets in the first academic year.
The client, a top global institution with more than 45,000 students from over 140 countries, had a vision to ensure global equity in education for its international students. The Moodle learning platform was overwhelmingly English-based, which provided a barrier to non-English speakers who were not able to fully access their resources. This created disparities in learning outcomes, significant administrative costs for translation, and low growth opportunities in potential markets in non-English-speaking regions.
To respond to the challenge, Hurix Digital provided a thorough multilingual enablement strategy for the university’s Moodle learning platform, implementing 15 tailored language packs, including Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, and French, that aligned with the university’s demographic makeup and recruitment strategies while aligning the non-English speaker tools with accessibility and instructor preparedness.
A user-friendly language selector was added to the platform, allowing faculty to create multilingual announcements, lessons, and assignments using the multi-language content filter. They were also trained on its use and set up a language pack to support non-English speakers. Technical optimizations ensure Unicode support, proper script rendering, and platform performance across languages.
The results were immediate and measurable. The university saw a 40% decrease in tickets for support on language issues, reducing the support burden by over 80 hours weekly for both the IT and academic teams. International student engagement increased 15%, course completion rates of non-native speakers went up 8%, and last-minute translation costs dropped 25%, saving the institution about $75,000 annually. International enrollment inquiries rose 30%, with 15% converting to applicants.
“Our Moodle platform is now a really global learning environment. More importantly, we have started to see a real uptick in student confidence and participation. This was one of those investments that generated excellent returns and aligned closely to our goal of equitable education,” stated the University’s Provost.
“This engagement demonstrates how strategic multilingual enablement can transform accessibility, retention, and recruitment for global institutions,” said Ravi Sharma, VP – Delivery at Hurix Digital. “By combining technical innovation with faculty empowerment, we’ve created a scalable model for inclusive learning that other universities can follow.”
