| Copy Editing |
The first thing our copy editing team does, prior to project initiation, is prepare a style sheet. Subsequently, the utmost care is taken to bring the manuscript in line with this. Wherever needed, our editors make changes to the format as well as the style and content of the manuscript. Corrections are made where necessary, in consultation with the writers if need be. Contradictions and inconsistencies are weeded out.
Copy editing can be classified under three broad headings: simple, moderate, and complex. |

| Technical Writing |
|
The most successful technical products are accompanied by supporting documentation. Effective technical writing can be the difference between success and failure in the market for an otherwise brilliant product.
Technical manuals present vital information, and hence we take immense care to ensure that the ones we create facilitate easy understanding. Our highly skilled and experienced technical writers work closely with the graphics team to design and create both content and presentation. The result is tight integration between word and image, the one complementing the other to make the user experience intuitive and painless. |
| The responsibilities of a technical writer include: |
| |
 |
Creating and editing copy |
| |

Contributing to the design process to ensure close integration of design, graphics and text |

Modifying the content to suit the design if necessary |
| |
 |
Organizing the content to make it snappy and interesting |

| Indexing and Abstracting |
Indexes and abstracts organize the content so that anyone can find and peruse items of interest easily. This is particularly important in the scientific and technical fields which have traditionally employed indexes. Indexing and abstracting have gained wide acceptance now in social sciences and humanities as well, due to the obvious advantages.
An indexer generates an alphabetical index comprising lists of terms, definitions, etc. This index also marks the numbers of the pages on which each item can be found, for ease of reference.
An abstractor, on the other hand, prepares a concise condensation of the significant content of the document, presenting its objectives, scope, and important points. The primary objective of abstracting is to capture the essential content of the document, thereby saving the reader’s time. At Hurix, we strive to create abstracts that are highly structured, concise and coherent. Our abstracts are the products of detailed, smart analyses of the content to be abstracted. |
